Are the AML check results stored or discarded?
Stored for 7 years from the end of the customer relationship or transaction date, whichever is later per AUSTRAC's record-keeping rules.
Stored. AUSTRAC's record-keeping rules require reporting entities to retain CDD evidence for 7 years from the end of the customer relationship (or 7 years from the date of the transaction, whichever is latest date) - discarding the result after the check would breach that obligation.
easyAML stores every check securely on AWS Cloud in Australia, encrypted at rest and in transit. The retention includes: ID documents captured, biometric templates and liveness evidence, DVS validation results, PEP/sanctions/adverse-media screening output, and the full audit trail (who initiated the check, when, what was viewed, when sign-off occurred). The customer doesn't need to keep their own copies of passports or licences - the platform is the system of record.
After the 7-year retention period lapses, personal information is automatically purged and an audit record of the deletion is created. See AUSTRAC's Record-keeping obligations page.
