Can a business name be changed to display a trading name?
Yes, set the trading name in your Business Profile; it then appears on dashboard headers, white-labelled customer flows and email templates.
Go to Account Settings → Business Profile and enter the trading name in the dedicated field. Once saved, the trading name takes over as the customer-facing display name across the platform:
- Dashboard headers and internal labels.
- White-labelled customer flows (Professional / Enterprise tiers).
- Email templates sent to clients during the KYC/VOI process.
- SMS Sender ID (subject to ACMA Sender ID registration under the new SMS legislation).
The legal name registered against your ABN is still used as part of the AML/CTF Program document, audit reports and AUSTRAC submissions - those documents need to reflect the regulatory record, not the trading brand. If your legal name has actually changed (e.g. an ASIC name change, a partnership restructure), update the ABN or ASIC record first; easyAML re-syncs from authoritative data.
