Can easyAML be used by a non-Australian business?
No, the platform is built for entities providing designated services in Australia under the Australian AML/CTF Act.
easyAML is built specifically for entities providing designated services in Australia under the Australian AML/CTF Act. The platform's risk assessments, AML Program templates, training modules, sanctions screening, document verification, ARNECC alignment and reporting workflows are all tuned to AUSTRAC's expectations and Australian law.
A non-Australian business cannot enrol with AUSTRAC unless it is providing designated services within Australia, so the platform isn't designed to serve foreign-jurisdiction obligations (e.g. FinCEN BSA in the US, FCA in the UK, FINTRAC in Canada).
Some practical edge cases that are supported:
- An Australian-domiciled business with foreign clients - fine. easyAML verifies overseas customers via passport and biometrics; tier 2/3 jurisdictional pricing applies to overseas KYB.
- A foreign parent with an Australian subsidiary providing designated services here - the Australian subsidiary subscribes as a normal Tranche 2 entity. The foreign parent's obligations are outside easyAML's scope.
- An offshore staff member of an Australian business - supported via authenticator-app MFA in place of Australian SMS.
