Where can a business check if it's regulated under Tranche 2?
AUSTRAC has an online self-assessment tool, the 'Check if you may be regulated' page.
AUSTRAC has an online self-assessment tool - the "Check if you may be regulated" page on the AUSTRAC website. Walk-through quiz format that asks about business activities and outputs whether the business is likely captured by Tranche 2 reforms.
Why the tool matters: the Tranche 2 reforms expand AML/CTF obligations to previously unregulated sectors including real estate, conveyancing, legal practitioners, accountants, trust and corporate service providers, and dealers in precious metals and stones. Not every business in these sectors is automatically captured - the captured activities are specific (the "designated services" list). The self-assessment tool helps businesses figure out where they stand.
For businesses unsure about their position after running the tool, easyAML's BDM team can provide a follow-up conversation with reference to the regulatory framework - this is a useful starting point for prospects who aren't sure whether they're in scope.
