Which training modules are mandatory for which roles?
Training modules are automatically allocated by role when a user is added.
Overview
Training modules split into required (compulsory, allocated automatically by role) and recommended (optional, available to any user who wants to go deeper). Allocation happens automatically when a user is added - no manual configuration. Standard role-based training takes roughly 1.5-2 hours per user, and the platform allows completion in smaller chunks (a 20-minute module over a coffee break rather than one long session).
Mandatory allocation and time by role
- Frontline Staff - ~6 modules (3 global + 3 role-specific), 1-1.5 hours
- CDD User - ~7 modules, 1.5-2 hours
- Board Member - ~9 modules, 2-3 hours
- Senior Manager - ~9 modules, 2-3 hours
- Compliance Officer / 2IC - full library (~11-15 modules), 3-4 hours

Timing and enforcement
Mandatory training must be completed before a user can provide designated services - before 1 July 2026 for go-live, or before the user's first transaction if they join later. The platform enforces this gate automatically. The CO typically trains first because they need to approve the Risk Assessment and Program; the rest of the team trains in parallel afterwards. Most firms complete the full setup (training, RA, Program, user invitations, integration) in about half a day's effort spread over a week or two; sole traders can power through in an afternoon. AUSTRAC's training expectations sit within the AML/CTF Program reform.
